The pipe organ is generally considered among church musicians as the
"king of all instruments" because of the wealth of voices and registrations it
can produce. It is a powerful, majestic instrument that has traditionally served
religious institutions for centuries in accompanying both congregational hymns and in solo
performances. Ever since a respectable alternative to the pipe organ has been manufactured, the electronic organ has increasingly become the instrument of choice for church committees. Similar to the advancements made in computer science during the past twenty years, the technology of digital sampling and tone fidelity has progressed in developing the voices an electronic organ can generate. In addition, the cost of the installation and maintenance of digital organs is significantly less than that of the pipe organ. |
